Tilting the beams is done by a part in the optic which is called the Abbe König
prisma.
This is how it worked in the past.
A optic for a SilverWriter with TRIP was always adjusted for the number of beams a
customer applied for. For the first optics with a PowerRip it was the same. NOW the
optics are always adjusted for 24 beam. If the customer has bought only 12 beams the
PowerRip software will only allow the plotter to expose with 12 beams. In the past
with a TRIP with the first multibeam optics this was impossible.
