12.3 Disposal
If the machine is to be decommissioned and disassembled, this can be
done in various ways:
n Placing the work with a specialist company.
n If appropriate knowledge and tools are available, this can also be done
independently by your own personnel.
In both cases, the applicable provisions and regulations on scrapping and
disposal in the countries in question must be complied with.
If scrapping is carried out by your own personnel, it is necessary to separate
the various components according to their type/material.
The task of selling the various parts/materials should be placed with special‐
ized and approved companies.
The most important materials are:
n Steels
n Cable
n Plastic materials
n Service fluids such as oils, fuel, greases, lubricants
Collect service fluids in a suitable container and dispose of them in accord‐
ance with the regulations.
