Section 7 Calibration
73
- Static Calibration
Only a small amount of material is conveyed through the measur-
ing frame for static calibration; this material is/has been weighed
before or after the calibration weighing on a comparative weigher.
This material is conveyed through the measuring frame very slowly
or in small steps. If the material is light, it may be possible to put
it on a foil and to pull it slowly through the measuring frame. If the
weight of the foil it is not negligible, it has to be added to the ma-
terial weight. While the material is being pulled through the meas-
uring frame, the LB 442 averages the count rate. Pulling the mate-
rial through the measuring frame should take at least 5 minutes in
order to reduce the statistical error during count rate averaging.
The comparative weight is also entered in kg/m.
The unit kg/m has to be selected for this kind of calibration. See
also "Select unit" on page 51.
Note: A static calibration has to be carried out very thoroughly, as
otherwise the accuracy that can be expected will not be very high.
Again, the longer the averaging time for the count rate, the better.
