6.3 Checks before coupling
Before coupling the trailer to a towing vehicle, the trailer must be checked for
proper and roadworthy condition. During this check it must be verified that:
− the condition of the tyres is in order,
− the tyre pressure is correct,
➢ Tyre inflation pressure must be checked regularly, as incorrect tyre
pressure changes the driveability unfavourably. (For tyre pressure
see Section 3.1).
− the wheel nuts are tight,
➢ On new vehicles and after a wheel change, the wheel nuts must be
tightened to the prescribed torque (see Section 3.1) after 50 km of
driving.
− the tread depth of the tyres meets the requirements,
➢ Tread depth according to regulation 1.6 mm. BMS recommends a
tread depth not less than 4 mm.
− the rear light unit with number plate is mounted on the vessel and
electrically connected,
− the lighting machine is damaged or defective,
− the on-board voltage and lighting of the trailer and towing vehicle (12 V
or 24 V) are the same
− the lighting machine is working properly,
− the coupling device has the correct carriage shaft load and this
corresponds to the towing vehicle,
− the delivery container and optionally the feeder is empty and cleaned.
➢ The machine may be transported only with the mixing and delivery
vessel completely emptied and cleaned. Additional weight impairs the
driving stability.
