Telephone in the rear
Vehicle equipment
All standard, country-specific and optional
equipment that is offered in the model series is
described in this chapter. Therefore, equip‐
ment is also described that is not available in a
vehicle, e. g., because of the selected optional
equipment or country variant. This also applies
for safety-related functions and systems.
The concept
The telephone in the rear consists of a handset
and a snap-in adapter.
It uses a SIM card to place calls similar to a
mobile phone, with the advantage of being
able to use the handset.
When the snap-in adapter is paired with the
vehicle, it is possible for the telephone to be
used in the front seats via the hands-free sys‐
tem while use of the telephone in the rear is re‐
stricted to the handset.
Calls can be transferred from the handset to
the hands-free system and vice versa.
The integrated WLAN hotspot can be used to
connect various devices, such as a laptop, to
the Internet via a wireless connection.
Hints
Service provider
Some functions depend on your service pro‐
vider and contract.
For additional questions, please contact your
service provider directly.
TWIN SIM cards
If so-called TWIN cards with the same phone
number are used as SIM cards in the snap-in
adapter and in another mobile phone located in
the vehicle, the device not in use must be
switched off; otherwise, the telephone in the
rear may not function properly.
