2.6 Safety equipment
Non-functioning safety
equipment
DANGER
Risk of fatal injury due to non-functioning safety equipment!
There is a risk of serious injury or even death if the safety equipment is
malfunctioning or disabled.
4 Check whether all safety equipment is functioning and correctly
installed before commencing work.
4 Never disable or bypass safety equipment.
4 Make sure that all safety equipment is always accessible.
Dead man's lever
The dead man's lever (1) is located on the left drive handle.
The dead man's lever is the safety element of the machine. Releasing the
dead man's lever stops all movements of the machine and attachments.
NOTE
The engine cannot be started when the dead man's lever is actuated.
Checking the safety systems
In order to ensure that the machine is safe, the safety system must be
checked at regular intervals as follows:
a) Actuate the dead man's lever.
b) Try to start the engine:

The engine does not start: continue at c.
ð
Engine starts: safety system is defective!
c) Do not actuate dead man's lever, start engine.
d) Actuate dead man's lever, switch on speed level 1, switch on
attachment.
e) Release dead man's lever:
ð
The attachment and drive system stop immediately: safety system is OK.
ð
The attachment and/or drive system do not stop immediately: safety system
is defective!
NOTE
If the inspection indicates a defective safety system, switch off the
machine immediately and contact your specialist dealer
