3.9 Document Feeding Problems
3.9.1 No feeding
<User Check>
- Load the document all the way, and check that the LCD display is changed.
- Check if the number of the documents complies with the specifications in the specification list.
Legal model: 50 sheets or less; A4 model: 35 sheets or less
- Check if the ADF cover is closed.
3.9.2 Double feeding
<User Check>
- Check whether the document is not thinner than the paper specified in specification.
- Fan out the documents so that they will not stick together, and then reload them in the ADF.
Step Cause Remedy
1 Document front actuator
catching on some position
Correct the position of the document front
actuator.
2 ADF open actuator catching
on some position
Correct the position of the ADF open
actuator.
3 Harness connection failure of
ADF motor
Check the harness connection of the
ADF motor and reconnect it.
4 Document front sensor or
ADF open sensor malfunstion
Check the sensor performance following the
procedure described in “Function code 32”.
If any problem occurs, replace the document
front/ADF open sensor PCB ASSY.
5 Separate roller failure Replace the separate roller ASSY.
6 ADF motor failure Replace the ADF motor.
7 Main PCB failure Replace the main PCB ASSY.
Step Cause Remedy
1 Separation rubber worn out (A4 model)
Replace the separation rubber holder ASSY.
(Legal model)
Replace the separation rubber.
