Section 3
If a damaged or incorrectly
matched transmitter has been
used, the system will not allow the
engine to start. If the engine does
not start and the Security System
Light comes on, there may be a
problem with the immobilizer
system. Turn the ignition off.
Place the transmitter in the
console bin transmitter pocket
with the buttons facing to the
front of the vehicle.
Then, try starting the engine
again.
See the following under "Driver
Information Center Messages" in
Section 1 for more information:
• ELECTRONIC KEY NOT
DETECTED
If the ignition control knob does
not rotate and the transmitter
appears to be undamaged, try
starting the vehicle with another
keyless access transmitter.
You may also want to check the
fuse. See "Fuses and Circuit
Breakers" for more information.
If the ignition control knob still
does not rotate, have the vehicle
serviced. If the ignition control
knob does rotate, the first trans-
mitter may be faulty.
See your dealer to have the
immobilizer system serviced and
to purchase a new transmitter that
can be programmed to your
vehicle.
If your vehicle loses battery
power or if battery power to the
vehicle theft deterrent system is
interrupted, the theft deterrent
system will disable vehicle starting.
Do not leave the key or the device
that disarms the theft deterrent
system in the vehicle.
