Problems on the Road
. . . 468
â–  JUMP STARTING
If your battery has run down, you
may use another vehicle and some
jumper cables to start your vehicle.
The other vehicle must have a
12-volt battery with a negative
ground system.
NOTICE
If the other vehicle does not
have a 12-volt battery with a
negative ground system, both
vehicles could be damaged.
CAUTION
Batteries have acid that can
burn you and gas that can
explode. You can be hurt badly
if you aren't careful. See the
section titled "How to Use this
Manual" for tips on how to
work around a battery without
getting hurt.
Do not let battery fluid touch
your skin. If you do get it in your
eyes or on your skin, flush the
place with water and get
medical help immediately.
CAUTION
Do not use a match or flame
near a vehicle’s battery. If you
need more light, use a
flashlight.
CAUTION
Every new GM vehicle uses a
battery that requires no
maintenance. However, if
another battery has filler caps,
be sure the right amount of
fluid is there. If it is low, add
water to make sure that there is
no explosive gas present.
NOTICE
Trying to start your vehicle by
pushing or pulling it won’t
work and could even damage
your vehicle.
