For the 3.6 L V6 engine (Code 7),
use gasoline with a posted octane
of 91 (research method) or higher.
For best performance and when
towing a trailer, use a gasoline
with a posted octane of 93.
For the 6.2L V8 engine, use
gasoline with a posted octane of
95 (research method) or higher.
For best performance, use a
gasoline with a posted octane
rating of 98. In an emergency, a
middle grade gasoline with a
posted octane of 91 or higher can
also be used.
If a middle grade gasoline with
posted octane of 91 or higher is
used in an emergency, avoid
aggressive driving maneuvers and
full-throttle applications. Refill
your fuel tank with premium
gasoline as soon as possible.
The use of gasoline with an
octane rating lower than that
recommended may cause engine
knock. Continued use can cause
engine damage and void the
warranty.
If you detect a heavy engine knock
even when using a gasoline of the
recommended octane rating, have
the engine checked. Short periods
of engine knock during hill climb-
ing and acceleration are accept-
able.
To help keep fuel injectors and
intake valves clean, see your dealer
for information about preventing
deposit-related problems.
