Section 3
NOTICE
Do not drive with the parking
brake set.
Driving with the electric
parking brake on could
overheat the brake system and
cause premature wear or
damage to brake system parts.
Make sure that the parking
brake is fully released and the
brake warning light is off before
driving.
Automatic Release of the Electric
Parking Brake
The electric parking brake will
automatically release if the vehicle
is running, placed into gear and an
attempt is made to drive away.
Avoid rapid acceleration when the
electric parking brake is applied to
preserve parking brake lining life.
In vehicles equipped with a
manual transmission, the electric
parking brake can be used to
prevent the vehicle from rolling
backward when accelerating from
a stop on a hill.
When the vehicle comes to a stop
at the top of a hill, apply the
electric parking brake to hold the
vehicle in place.
Using both feet, apply the clutch
and accelerator pedals in
preparation for moving the vehicle
in the intended direction.
Perform the normal clutch and
accelerator actions to begin
moving the vehicle.
There is no need to push the
switch to release the electric
parking brake.
The electric parking brake will
release automatically.
