3.1 Refrigerant Containment

Isolationandrecoveryoftherefrigerantmustbeperformedbyaqualifiedservicetechnicianadheringtoindustry/ASHRAEstandards.
Alwayswearpropersafetyequipmentwhenhandlingrefrigerants.
1. Closethesuction,discharge,andeconomizerisolatingvalvesasappropriate.
2. Closethemotor-coolingliquidlineshut-offvalve.
3. Useamagnettomanuallyopenatleastoneofthemotorcoolingsolenoids.
4. Connectarefrigerantrecoverysystemtothecompressorasperindustry-standardproceduresand
transfertherefrigeranttoanappropriatecontainmentvessel.
5. Oncethetransferofrefrigerantiscomplete,bringthecompressorbacktoatmosphericpressure
accordingtoindustrystandardsusingdrynitrogen.
3.2 Compressor Removal
1. IsolatetheCompressorpowerasdescribedinSection1.8ElectricalIsolationonpage22.

Ensurethatthereisnosecondarypowersourceconnectedtothecompressorbeforedisconnectingthefollowingcables:
2. RemovetheACpowercablesfromtheMainsInputBusbars.
3. Removethegroundwirefromthegroundpost.
4. RemovetheconduitfromtheMainsPlate.

6. DisconnecttheI/OcablefromtheBackplaneI/Oconnector(J7)andremovethecablefromthe
compressor.
7. Disconnectthecompressorfromtherefrigerantsystemconnections(suction,discharge,economizer
andmotorcoolingline),takingcarewhenremovingconnectionsthatthereisnoresidualpressure.
