Fabric-connected
system
A working system requires one to four supported and fully operational Symmetrix or
VNX arrays and a cabinet.
Figure 21 shows the components of a VNX VG2/VG8 system. It also shows the LAN
connections between VNX gateway components and the Fibre Channel (FC)
connections to the FC or FCoE switches that in turn connect to the Symmetrix or VNX
arrays.

Your customer may have ordered a Symmetrix or VNX array with the VNX gateway,
or your customer may already have one or more arrays installed.
The installation of arrays is outside the scope of this guide. Refer to the appropriate
Symmetrix or VNX installation documentation as needed.
