Motor Direction Verification
U36, U39, U44, and U61 process the encoder feedback from both channels to
independently verify pump direction.
Pinch Valves There are six pneumatic pinch valves located on the ACP 215 top deck which
automatically control the flow of fluids through the disposable set tubing. These
valves are color-coded to facilitate accurate tubing installation.
The safety system controls the valves during the self-diagnostic tests. Once the
operator has selected a procedure, the appropriate valves automatically open
in preparation for installing the disposable set tubing. In case of power failure,
the valves revert to a closed status.
The glycerolization protocol does not utilize any of the valves, but the
deglycerolization protocol requires all six valves as follows:
Blue valve for the hypertonic solution tubing
Yellow valve for the saline-dextrose solution tubing (0.9% NaCl, 0.2%
dextrose)
Orange valve for the additive solution tubing
White valve for the washed blood product tubing
Red valve for the thawed blood product tubing
Green valve for the bowl effluent tubing
The six valves used by the device are controlled by the CPU board via the
pneumatic assembly. Air generated by a compressor is distributed from the
assembly, through solenoids and pneumatic tubing, to the individual valves,
causing them to open or shut.
