Diamond Series™
5.4 PA Modules
!
WARNING:
THE DIAMOND PA MODULES ARE DESIGNED TO HANDLE VERY HIGH TEMPERA-
TURES AND MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT, UP TO 90
O
F (50
O
C) ABOVE ROOM TEM-
PERATURE. DO NOT TOUCH THE MODULES WITH BARE HANDS AFTER THE
TRANSMITTER HAS BEEN RUNNING, ESPECIALLY IN HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERA
-
TURE ENVIRONMENTS. SPECIAL GLOVES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED IN THE REAR
OF THE CONTROL CABINET OR CAN BE OBTAINED FROM HARRIS, PART #099-
0006-483 OR GRAINGER ITEM #4JF36.
Thermal Gloves have been provided in the rear of the Control Cabinet for handling of
the PA Modules. If your transmitter does not have these, then gloves can be obtained
from Harris, part #099-0006-483 or
Grainger Item #4JF36 (Thermoshield Seamless Thermal gloves - Cotton Knit).
5.4.1 Removal
The PA Modules can be removed while the transmitter is on the air. There are pressure
switches under each handle (one on each side) on the PA Modules. Pulling on the front
handles operates these switches which will disable the module by disconnecting the
32Vdc in the module, allowing removal. The amplifiers may be hot! Have a place ready
to set the module before attempting to remove it. Removal of more than 2 PA modules
at a time could cause over-temp faults on the other modules, due to the loss of air flow.
5.4.2 Replacement
To replace a module, slide the module in with slow firm pressure until it has seated in
the rear connector. The module will remain OFF until the transmitter ON button is
pressed (with the transmitter still ON), this will send the ON command to all modules
including the one just replaced.
