Section 2 Installation
For systems with an APEX exciter, a PA output RF sample is also required and con-
nects to J30 on the Customer I/O panel. This sample should come from a point in the
RF system after any combiners but before the High Power Filter (HPF).
Reject load RF power sample cables (for multiple PA Cabinet configurations). In
combined systems, a sample of the combiner reject power will connect to the Cus-
tomer I/O panel in the upper-rear of the Control Cabinet, J5 through J9.
a. Connect the reject load sample for PA Cabinet #1 to J5
b. Connect the reject load sample for PA Cabinet #2 to J6
c. Connect the reject load sample for PA Cabinet #3 to J7
d. Connect the reject load sample for PA Cabinet #4 to J8
e. Connect the reject load sample for PA Cabinet #5 to J9
2.7.1 Keyboard Connections
There are several different scenarios where a keyboard will be necessary for operation
of the GUI, so it would be a good idea to have one ready. There are at present 3 different
hardware versions of the GUI computer. From the front panel and in operation they are
identical, but from the back they are different.
For one of the GUIs there is only one connection for a keyboard, and it has the earlier
style 6 pin DIN connector on the back (the back of the GUI is completely enclosed on
this one). This GUI will not accept the smaller PS2 style connector, however an adaptor
should be available at most computer stores.
The second style has PS2 compatible inputs on the GUI (for both mouse and keyboard.
On the third style, there is a 6 pin DIN connector, but there is also a PS2 adaptor which
can be used. To use a PS2 compatible keyboard it will be necessary to install an adaptor
cable which is bundled in a small bag of computer cables (there are actually 2 adaptors
in the bag). The adaptor has a mountable PS2 connector and flange on one end and a 4
pin female connector on the other.
To install the adaptor, pull the GUI out of the control cabinet on the rack slides. On the
right hand side, on the edge of the GUI PC Board, there is a 4 pin male connector
directly above the RJ-45 connector, as shown in Figure 2-2.
