Section 4 Theory of Operation
4.6.3.3.4 Driver System Control
The control of the Driver is centered around CPLD U11 which handles remote fault
reporting and ON/OFF control. External inputs for enable/disable which come from the
system are opto-coupled at U12. Local control with on-board ON/OFF switches are also
available. These inputs are buffered by U17. The outputs of U11 are also buffered by
U9.
4.6.3.3.5 Power Supply
On-board DC-DC regulator U13 provides +/- 15 volts for use on the Driver Controller
Board, U6 generates the non-critical +5 volts for the assembly. U15 supplies more
sensitive and lower current +5 volt reference. The 28 volt input line is protected by self-
resetting PTC fuses.
4.6.3.4 Output Board
The RF Output board provides a sample of the RF output signal to the Driver Controller
board for AGC purposes. It connects to the Controller with a coax to be detected on the
Controller.
4.6.3.5 Power Supply
The Power Supply used in the Driver Module is a 200 watt, 28 VDC switching power
supply. This supply provides voltage to all assemblies in the Driver, including the
cooling fans. It is a vendor manufactured item.

4.7.1 Detectors
A DC voltage that represents the normal level of RF goes to the controller for
monitoring. The normal DC voltage is approximately 4VDC going to the Cabinet
Controller.
