1.1 Purpose of This Manual
This technical manual contains the information pertaining to the Diamond CD™ Series
UHF solid-state DTV transmitter. The various sections of this technical manual provide
the following types of information.
• Section 1 Introduction, provides general manual layout, frontispiece, equipment
description, block diagram.
• Section 2 Installation, provides physical and electrical installation procedures.
• Section 3 Operation, provides identification and functions of all external panel con-
trols and indicators. GUI (Graphical User Interface) information is provided in the
Diamond Software manual, 888-2470-001.
• Section 4 Theory of Operation, provides block diagram and detailed theory of opera-
tion.
• Section 5 Maintenance and Alignments, provides preventative and corrective main-
tenance information.
• Section 6 Troubleshooting, provides a listing of possible transmitter faults with a
brief description of the cause and effect of the fault..
• Section 7 Parts List, provides a parts list for the overall Transmitter as well as indi-
vidual modules.

• Appendix A Cutting and Soldering Transmission Line.
• Appendix B Surge, Lightning and Grounding Considerations.
