• CAMSHAFT AXIAL PLAY
1) Check that the oil pump assembly is installed properly on
the cylinder head assembly.
2) Loosen all the valve adjusting lock nuts and the valve
adjusting screws fully.
3) Put the camshaft at the top dead center of the compression
stroke of the No.1 cylinder piston (with the groove in the
camshaft toward the head cover side). Install the dial
indicator.
4) Check the camshaft axial play by moving the camshaft up
and down with a screwdriver.
5) If the measurement exceeds the service limit, replace the
camshaft with a new one and recheck.
If the measurement still exceeds the service limit after
replacing the camshaft, replace the cylinder head with a
new one.
• CAMSHAFT RUNOUT
1) Place V blocks or equivalent under the journal at both ends
of the camshaft.
2) Install the dial indicator on the camshaft, and measure the
camshaft runout by turning the camshaft.
• ROCKER ARM I.D.
Measure the I.D. of each rocker arm.

3) If the measurement exceeds the service limit, replace the
camshaft with a new one.
• ROCKER SHAFT O.D.
Measure the rocker shaft O.D. at the sliding part of each rocker
arm.
