5. WATER PUMP/SHIFT ROD
a. DISASSEMBLY
Remove the following parts.
- Propeller (P. 11-2)
- Gear case assembly (P. 11-3)
- Propeller shaft holder assembly (P. 11-7)
1) Remove the four 6 x 40 mm hex bolts and the four 6 mm
washers, and remove the impeller housing assembly from
the gear case assembly.
2) Remove the four impeller housing collars and the water
tube seal ring from the impeller housing assembly.
3) Remove the woodruff key from the vertical shaft.

KEY
4) Check the pump impeller for cracks, wear or damage from
overheating, and replace it if necessary.
5) Remove the pump impeller, water pump liner and the
water pump O-ring from the impeller housing.
Replace the O-ring with a new one on reassembly.
