1. DISASSEMBLY
a. CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT/CYLINDER BLOCK
Remove the following part.
- Engine cover (P. 4-2)
1) Move the shift to the "N" (Neutral) position.
2) Turn the alternator rotor counterclockwise to bring the
No.1 cylinder piston to the top dead center of its
compression stroke (P. 3-10).
Remove the following parts.
- Alternator/timing belt (P. 7-3)
- Vapor separator (P. 5-99)
- Air vent strainer/air vent tube (P. 5-115)
- Cylinder head assembly (P. 9-4)
- Oil filter cartridge (P. 3-5)
- Electric parts/main wire harness (Section 18)
3) Remove the engine from the outboard motor (P. 6-2).
4) Raise the locking lug of the 22 mm flange nut.
5) Set the special tool on the alternator rotor side crankshaft
as shown and hold the crankshaft.
TOOL:
Crankshaft holder 070PB-ZZ50100
6) Remove the 22 mm flange nut and the 22 mm washer using
the special tool.
Replace the 22 mm flange nut with a new one on
reassembly.
TOOL:
Lock nut wrench, 30 x 40 mm 07916-9690000
7) Remove the ten 6 x 40 mm flange bolts from the crankcase.
