8) Set the trim tab aligning the " " mark on the trim tab with
the " " mark on the gear case assembly, and tighten the 8
mm washer and 8 x 20 mm hex bolt securely.
9) Move the shift to the "R" (Reverse) position and push the
shift rod B of the gear case assembly down to the
lowermost position (Reverse position).
10) Turn the lock nut right or left to adjust the distance from the
lock nut end to the end of shift rod B to 8 mm or more as
shown.
11) Turn the shift rod joint nut to align the bottom end of the
shift rod A with the bottom end of the shift rod joint nut.
12) Tighten the shift rod joint nut up to the lock nut position of
the shift rod B and tighten the lock nut securely.
After installation, move the shift to the "N" (Neutral)
position. Check whether the shift moves smoothly.
• Be sure to tighten the shift rod joint nut against the shift
rod B with the shift and the shift rod B in the "R" (Reverse)
position.
13) Adjust the shift cable (P. 3-20).
