b. INSTALLATION
1) Clean the oil case/primary gear case mating surfaces and
both sides of a new oil case gasket thoroughly using a shop
towel and degreasing cleaning solvent.
2) Apply beads [1.0
- 6.0 mm (0.04 - 0.24 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
®
#1211 or equivalent) to the indicated
area of the oil case gasket.
• Assemble within 90 minutes after application of the liquid
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 90
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
liquid gasket again.
• Do not fill the oil case with the engine oil and do not start
the engine for 15 minutes after assembly.
3) Apply beads [2.0 - 4.0 mm (0.08 - 0.16 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
®
#1207B or equivalent) to the indicated
area of the primary gear case [Long/semi-long/extra-long
shaft types only].
• Assemble within 20 minutes after application of the liquid
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 20
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
liquid gasket again.
• Do not fill the oil case with the engine oil and do not start
the engine for 15 minutes after assembly.
