b. INSTALLATION
1) Clean the oil case/primary gear case mating surfaces and
both sides of a new oil case gasket thoroughly using a shop
towel and degreasing cleaning solvent.
2) Apply beads [1.0
-
6.0 mm (0.04
-
0.24 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
®
#1211 or equivalent) to the indicated
area of the oil case gasket.
Assemble within 90 minutes after application of the liquid
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 90
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
liquid gasket again.
Do not fill the oil case with the engine oil and do not start
the engine for 15 minutes after assembly.
3) Apply beads [2.0
-
4.0 mm (0.08
-
0.16 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
®
#1207B or equivalent) to the indicated
area of the primary gear case [Long/semi-long/extra-long
shaft types only].
Assemble within 20 minutes after application of the liquid
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 20
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
liquid gasket again.
Do not fill the oil case with the engine oil and do not start
the engine for 15 minutes after assembly.
