4. FRAME

o. Disassembly
Ill Remove the exhaust pi pe and the muffler.
(2) Remove the bra ke r od fro m the brake arm by
loosening the bra ke ad justing nut, then remo ve
the brake pedal spring and the ma in stand spring.
131 Place a suitable stand und er the engine and
remove the rear bra ke p ivot pi pe by removing
the 8 mm hex . nut fixing the re ar brake pivo t
pipe, and the 3 mm cot ter pin ; and by pulling out
the rear brake pivot pipe , th e stand and brake
pedal can be removed from the frame as a unit .

141 Remove the step bar fro m the crankcase by re-
m oving the 8 mm he x. bolts.
b. Inspection
Ill Inspect the brake pedal spring, main stand spr in g
and the r ear brake rod spring for loss of tensi on
and corrosion. If loss of te nsion or co rrosi on
is excessive, the spring shou ld be rep lac ed.
1 21 Inspect the brake pivot pipe and brake peda l
for looseness. If excessively loose , the part
should be adjusted to conform wi th the standard
or rep l aced. (Fig. 4-36)

c. Reassembly
Ill Clean the pads and lubric ate the sh aft s wit h
grease befo re reassembly.
Rei nst all the rear brake pi vot pipe int o the brak e
pedal and reinstall the s ta nd on the frame and
flx the s ta nd in pla ce with the re ar brake piv ot
pipe.
