9. AIR CLEANER CLEANING
An air cleaner clogged with dust rest ricts the free
passage of inlet air and result in power loss or drop
in acceleration, therefore , to assure proper perform-
once, periodic cleaning of the air cleaner should be
performed.
l. Removal (C50, C50M, C65, C65M)
a. Lo osen the cop nut on t op of the front cover
and remove the air c leaner cover, then loose n
nut
on the insi de and detach the air cleaner .
b. For
models S50 and S65, remo ve the air clea ner
cove r on the center right side, loose n th e
screw and remove the ai r clea ner . (Fig. 6-21 )

Cleaning
c. Top the cleaner ligh tly to remove the dust and
then blow dry compre ss ed air from the inside
or use a brush. (Fig. 6-22)
(Caution)
I 11 The air cleaner is mode of paper and if torn
or damaged, replace with a new element.
121 Oil or water on the cleaner element will
render it ineffective and will cause dust to
enter the engine cy linder, resulting in in-
creased cylinder wear.
10. CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
(550, 565)
The function of the clutch is to tran smit or dis-
engage the rotary power produced by the engine
to the transmission. If the gear is engaged without
the clutch be i ng completely disengaged, the vehicle
will start moving wi th a jolt or the engine will stall
out. On the othe r hand, if the clutch is slipping,
the speed of the motorc yc le will log in relation to
the engine speed.
1. Lever play (550, 565)
There should be 1 to 1.5cm 10.4 -0 .6 inl of free
ploy in the clu tc h lever be fo re the clutch starts
to
disengage. (Fig. 6- 23)
