4. FRAME
Check the pivo rubb er bushing for damage or
aging and also for l oos en ess in the fork . Replace
defective bushings.
131 Check the rear for k f or t wis t and deformation.
If twist is over 1 mm (0.040 in) or the part is
defective, replace with o n ew part. (Fig. 4-42)
c. Reassembly
( ll Reassemble the rear fork in the reverse order ~
of the disassembly.

a. Care should be taken when installing the
chain case gasket. (Fig.
4-431
b. Check the pivot for looseness.

Check the axle nut for tightness.

Check L and R chain tension adjuster, they
should both be set to the same alignment
marks. Impr
ope r adjustment will affect the
steerabi
lity.
4.8 DRIVE CHAIN '
Eng ine output is transmitted from the engine thr ough ·
the clutch and the tran smission where torque is con-
verted to the chain drive. The chain used is a
RK420-B
type h igh strength chain to with s tand high
speed performance and high outpu t. It is made end-
less
by ,us ing only one joint clip and is housed within
the chain cases to prevent dust from en tering,
preventing the rapid wear of the sprocket.
a. Disassembly
Ill Remove the change pedal.
121 Remove the l eft crankcase cover .
131 Remove the chain case l ower half.
141 Rotate the rear whee l so that the drive chain
jo
int is positioned at the specified l ocat ion s hown
in Fig. 4.44 and then disconnect the drive chain
by r emov i ng· the joint clip. (Fig. 4- 44)
b. Inspection
I ll In spect the drive chain for wear and damages.
