Modem Trouble Shooting
The Linux Operating System of the Excel Web provides the Standard Linux Modem
Log functionality.
This modem diagnostics log must be switched on via editing a Linux configuration
file via the Linux console, and should only be done by specially trained personnel.
After login into the Linux console of the Excel Web, go to the file
/etc/inittab (::respawn:/usr/sbin/mgetty/ ttyS3 -x0 /dev/ttyS3) and set the '-x0' to a
value between 1 and 7.
IMPORTANT
The number after the 'x' defines how detailed the modem log will be.
”0” means Modem log switched off
”1” means very few details
”7” means very many details
The recommended value to start with is '-x4', which will log reasonably detailed
modem diagnostics.
