Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged
into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
2. Remove the new system backplane from its packaging.
3. Replace the slam latch assemblies on the new system backplane by tightening the flat head screws
(A) with a T15 Torx screwdriver as shown in the following îš³gure.

4. Install the new system backplane.
Remember: The system backplane requires two people or a lift tool to install it. These instructions
assume two people are performing the installation. If you're using a lift tool, refer to the lift tool
documentation for instructions to use the lift tool.
a) Extend the slide rails from the rack, if needed.
b) As you carefully lower the new system backplane into the slide rails, keep the front end high and
the rear end low. The rear guide pins on the system backplane must make initial contact with the
slide rail mounting slots.
