4.8.3 Direct attached Fibre Channel
The DS3500 storage subsystem supports both direct attached and SAN fabric attached
hosts. You can attach up to four direct-connected hosts or up to 64 host servers in a switched
fabric SAN infrastructure. In this section we describe some example configurations of
direct-attached Fibre Channel host servers.
Direct-attached DS3500 examples
If you are connecting four or less host servers using Fibre Channel then you can directly
connect the four servers to the DS3500. We show some examples of direct-attached
configurations in the following pages.
Figure 4-31 on page 121 shows the simplest configuration: one host server connected to a
single controller DS3500 by a single Fibre Channel link.
