jumper is used when the system BIOS has become corrupted and is non-functional, requiring a new BIOS
image to be loaded on to the server board.
Note: The BIOS Recovery jumper is only used to re-install a BIOS image in the event the BIOS has become
corrupted. This jumper is not used when the BIOS is operating normally to update the BIOS from one version
to another.
Note: System update files are included in the SUP posted to Intel’s download center website at
http://downloadcenter.intel.com
.
To use the BIOS recovery jumper, perform the following steps:
1. Turn off the system and remove the AC power cords.
2. Remove the system top cover.
3. Move the “BIOS Recovery” jumper from pins 12 (default) to pins 23 (BIOS recovery position).
4. Re-install the system top cover and re-attach the AC power cords.
5. Power on the system. The system automaticallys boot to the EFI shell.
6. Update the BIOS using the standard BIOS update instructions provided with the system update
package.
7. After the BIOS update has successfully completed, power off the system. For safety, remove the AC
power cords from the system.
8. Remove the system top cover.
9. Move the BIOS recovery jumper back to pins 12 (default).
10. Re-install the system top cover and re-attach the AC power cords.
11. During POST, press <F2> to access the BIOS setup utility to configure and save desired BIOS options.
