Work in a clean area; cleanliness is extremely important
when repairing hydraulic pumps. Before dismantling, plug
the ports and thoroughly clean the outside of the pump.
After cleaning, remove port plugs and drain the oil.
Dismantling
1 Put location marks across front plate 2, body 3 and
back plate 4 to ensure proper re-assemble.
2 Remove four cap screws 1.
3 Tap shaft with a plastic hammer to separate pump
sections.
4 Remove ‘O’ ring seal 5 and 6 from body.
5 Remove seal 7 and seal support 8 from front bearings
and seal 9 and seal support 10 from rear bearings.
6 Push gear and bearing assembly out of body.
Note: Keep gears and bearings in their relative positions
so that they are returned correctly during assembly.
7 Separate the gear and bearing components 11 and
18.
8 Remove circlip 19 and withdraw shaft seal 20 from
front plate.
Inspection
1 Clean and dry all parts.
2 Remove nicks and burrs from all parts with emery
cloth.
3 Check for scoring on face of back plate.
4 Check gear pockets inside body for excessive scoring
or wear.
5 Check drive shaft spline for twisted or broken teeth.
6 Inspect both drive gear and idler gear shafts at bush
points and seal area for rough surfaces and
excessive wear.
7 Inspect gears for scoring and excessive wear.
Renew the pump if any parts are worn or damaged.
