APPENDIX D.SAFETY DEVICES IN THE PIT
This section describes how to check the pit stop switch, go to from the bottom floor
landing to the pit, how to go to from the pit to the bottom floor landing, how to reset
the pit safety device in elevators without shaft access monitor (SAM), and how to reset the pit
safety device in elevators with shaft access monitor (SAM).
D.1 Checking the pit stop switch
This section describes testing the pit safety device
ad the stop switch in the pit.
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment.
1. Open the landing door with the emergency release key.
2. Check that the elevator car is in a suitable position.
3. Standing on the landing, push down the stop switch.
4. Close the landing doors and check that they are mechanically locked.
5. Make a landing call. The elevator must not move.

1) If the elevator has Shaft Access Monitor (SAM), go to the Maintenance Access Panel (MAP) and
reset the SAM: Simultaneously press RDF RUN 270:RB + SAM reset 141:P button in MAP until
the SAM reset signal sounds. Make a car call from the Maintenance Access Panel (MAP). The
elevator must not move. Close and lock the MAP.
WARNING! If the stop switch does not operate correctly, find out what caused the
malfunction and repair the elevator.
