5 KONE NANOSPACE™
KONE NanoSpace™ combines belt drive and rope suspension to an elevator that maximises
both vertical and horizontal space efficiency. KONE NanoSpace™ is designed for both new
and existing buildings.
KONE NanoSpace™ eliminates the need for a separate machine room. In traditional elevator
systems, the machinery of the elevator has been mounted in a machine room. This has taken
up valuable rental space and sometimes dominated building design. Since the machine is
located in the elevator shaft, these problems no longer exist.
The dual and slim balancing weight design minimizes the horizontal space. Instead of a
single counterweight on one side of the shaft, KONE NanoSpace™ features two slim
balancing weights on both sides of the shaft. This enables installing a larger car into the same
shaft than with previous counterweight designs.
