5.1.13 Integrated maintenance access panel and drive
The elevator emergency drive buttons and the car light supply switch are also located in the
integrate
d maintenance access panel (iMAP). iMAP is typically located on the lowest floor
beside the door. Due to its placement, it is extremely important that the iMAP door is closed
and locked at all times. There should not be any flammable materials near iMAP.
5.1.14 Top safety device
The top safety device (car top buffers) is used to provide safety space for maintenance
pe
rsonn
el above the car. The top safety device must be activated when entering the car roof.
5.1.15 Car apron
The car apron is a metal panel below the car door sill. It prevents p
eople from falling to the
elevator shaft in rescue situations.
5.1.16 Shaft access monitoring (SAM)
The elevator may be equipped with SAM that detects if someone has entered the shaft and
prevents the car from moving.
Never leave the iMAP door unlocked or open while it is unattended. This provides
unauthorized persons access to the elevator controls and may thus cause danger.
Never remove the shields of electrical system when system is energized. The elevator's
electrical systems are behind the shield and therefore there is a risk of an electric shock if
the shield is removed.
