8.6.1 Safety measures
Before starting work, note the following:
– All safety measures for normal elevator maintenance must be implemented and local
safety re
gulations must be followed.
8.6.2 Checking the lock
KONE can provide a car door lock when required to comply
with safety code.
The following table describes the maintenance procedures for your elevator’s car door lock.

Door lock and contacts Check the lock function. The lock is not adjustable.
1. Car door lock must keep the door closed.
2. Safety circuit must be interrupted if the door opens.
3. Lock hook (B) and beak overlap must be a minimum of
7 mm (X) wh
en contact operates.
4. Contact bridge must push the contact surface down a
minimu
m of 3 mm (Y).
5. Free play between lock hook and lock beak must be a
nom
inal 2 mm (Z).
6. Contacts must be clean and have minimal wear,
meaning meta
l visible.
7. Contact bridge must be aligned to the middle of
contact
or holes, not touching hole edges.
8. Electrical terminations must be tight and se
cure.
9. Lock hook (B) must move freely when pushing lock
vane (A).
