8.7.2 Checking the buffers
The following table describes the maintenance procedures fo
r your elevator’s polyurethane
buffers.

Check the overall condition of the buffer

ure.
Once a year
Check that the buffer is:
– Intact
– Securely fixed and not move when pushed firmly
sideways
– Clean of dust and debris
– Not exposed to water, other liquids or chemicals
– Free of cracks or powdering
– Able to withstand a gentle hit with, for example, a
hammer or wooden
block or similar blunt object
without suffering any damage
If any of the above conditions is not OK, replace the
buf
fer.
If the buffer has clearly failed, remove the elevator from
service until
the buffer has been replaced.
