III. USER INTERFACES
Using the Three-Knob Collimator in Standard Mode
At the desired SID, the operator must select the proper eld using the references in the diagram on the front panel.
EXAMPLE: If the operator wants to set an X-ray eld of 35 cm x 43 cm where 35 cm is given by the cross shutter
and 43 cm is given by the long shutters, at SID 100 cm, the operator must position the left knob at a value of 35
and both the two long knobs (the middle and right knobs) at values of 43 each (see Figure 10.3.1).
Using the Collimator in Offset Mode
The maximum aperture of the X-ray eld is 43 cm x 43 cm at SID 100 cm. The offset mode can be used at a different SID.
This mode allows the user to move the exposure area to accommodate patients that may require special circumstances.
To set the offset mode to the desired SID, the cross knob (the knob on the left) has to be positioned on the value of the
scale in reference to the diagram on the front panel. The two long knobs (knobs in the middle and on the right) both must
be positioned on the setting 1, 2, or 3 indicated on the scale following the desired eld.
Figure 10.3.3 provides a visual example of the exposure area offset into three different sections with the three-knob colli-
mator.
