EXAMPLE: To obtain an X-ray eld of 24 cm (long) by 35 cm (cross) at SID 150 cm, with reference to the chart,
set the long knob indicator to 16.5 cm and the cross knob indicator to 24 cm (see Figures 10.2.2 and 10.2.3).
10.3 Three-Knob Collimator
The three-knob collimator includes a ne tuning knob in the center allowing the user to manually adjust the area of an
image during an exposure to accommodate patients that may require special circumstances (injuries, limited movement,
etc.). In this offsetting process, the bucky and the X-ray beam are manually aligned for each exposure (see Figures 10.3.1
and 10.3.2).
