Figure4-8: DisplayingpHAnalysisResults
ThepHanalysisisdoneontheselectedpHanalysischannel(basedonpH≤4;seethesection“pHAnalysisSettings”
on page 60). Most results depend on the position of the patient, so it is important that information about the
patient’s position is entered in the diary.
SomeofthepHanalysisresults(e.g.,theDeMeesterscore,theAdultscore)canbebasedonpHreuxmarkers.
Therefore, in the pH analysis settings (see the section “pHAnalysisSettings” on page 60), you must select
the EnablepHreuxmarkersoption.After(automatic)insertionofpHreuxmarkersonthepHchannel(s),the

pH acid results (standard)
The pHacidresultssectioncontainscalculatedparametersforacidreuxes.Theparametersarecalculatedperdiary
period (upright, supine) and for the total investigation.
The parameters may include the following:
•
Duration
•
Totalreuxtime
•
Numberofreuxperiods
•
NumberofpHonlyreuxperiods(reuxperiodswhichareonlydetectedonapHchannel)
•
Numberoflongreuxperiods(>5minutes)
•
Longestreux
•
Lowest pH reached
DeMeester scoring results
The DeMeester scoring results section contains calculated parameters according to the DeMeester score.
*
The
DeMeesterscoreisbasedonthepercentageoftotalreuxtime,percentagetotalreuxtimeuprightandsupine,the
numberofreuxperiods,thenumberoflongreuxperiods(>5minutes),andthedurationofthelongestreuxperiod.
For each component, a scoring value is calculated with regard to its normal mean value and standard deviation. These
component scores are then added up to form the DeMeester score and can be compared to the normal upper limit
for the score. To overcome the fact that there are different sets of normal values for the DeMeester score, the normal
