active engine faults are ignored (or the emissions
system has been tampered with), therefore becoming
so severe that engine output is now limited and requires
authorized dealer service. (Figures 4-14 to 4-16)
Modication or rendering inoperative
any emission-related component can subject you to
government penalties (and will void your warranty).
Tampering with emission controls is in violation of
federal law, and can result in civil penalties of up to
$3,750 each day an engine or piece of equipment is
operated in violation.
