TheServerGuideprogramcanreducethetimeittakestoinstallanoperatingsystem.Itprovidesthedevice
driversthatarerequiredforyourhardwareandfortheoperatingsystemthatyouareinstalling.Thissection
describesatypicalServerGuideoperating-systeminstallation.

1.Afteryouhavecompletedthesetupprocess,theoperating-systeminstallationprogramstarts.(You
willneedyouroperating-systemCDtocompletetheinstallation.)
2.TheServerGuideprogramstoresinformationabouttheservermodel,serviceprocessor,harddiskdrive
controllers,andnetworkadapters.Then,theprogramcheckstheCDfornewerdevicedrivers.This
informationisstoredandthenpassedtotheoperating-systeminstallationprogram.
3.TheServerGuideprogrampresentsoperating-systempartitionoptionsthatarebasedonyour
operating-systemselectionandtheinstalledharddiskdrives.
4.TheServerGuideprogrampromptsyoutoinsertyouroperating-systemCDandrestarttheserver.At
thispoint,theinstallationprogramfortheoperatingsystemtakescontroltocompletetheinstallation.
