TheVMwareESXiembeddedhypervisorsoftwareisavailableontheoptionalUSBflashdevicewith
embeddedhypervisor.
TheUSBflashdevicecanbeinstalledinUSBconnectorsonthesystemboard(see“System-boardinternal
connectors”onpage26
forthelocationoftheconnectors).Hypervisorisvirtualizationsoftwarethatenables
multipleoperatingsystemstorunonahostsystematthesametime.TheUSBflashdeviceisrequiredto
activatethehypervisorfunctions.
Tostartusingtheembeddedhypervisorfunctions,youmustaddtheUSBflashdevicetothestartup
sequenceintheSetuputility.
ToaddtheUSBflashdevicetothestartupsequence,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnontheserver.
Note:Approximately5to10secondsaftertheserverisconnectedtopower,thepower-control
buttonbecomesactive.
Step2.Whentheprompt<F1>Setupisdisplayed,pressF1.
Step3.FromtheSetuputilitymainmenu,selectBootManager.
Step4.SelectAddBootOption;then,selectGenericBootOption➙EmbeddedHypervisor.Press
Enter,andthenselectEsc.
Step5.SelectChangeBootOrder➙Changetheorder.UsetheUparrowandDownArrowkeys
toselectEmbeddedHypervisorandusetheplus(+)andminus(-)keystomoveEmbedded
Hypervisorinthebootorder.WhenEmbeddedHypervisorisinthecorrectlocationintheboot
order,pressEnter.SelectCommitChangesandpressEnter.
Step6.SelectSaveSettingsandthenselectExitSetup.
