Notes:
1.Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatestfirmwareor
restorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCDimage.Makesurethat
youhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebeforeyouproceed.
2.Beforeyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyoubackupanyfeaturesondemand(FoD)keys
thatwereenabled.ReactivateanyFeaturesonDemandfeatures.Instructionsforautomatingthe
activationoffeaturesandinstallingactivationkeysisintheFeaturesonDemandUser'sGuide.To
downloadthedocument,gotohttp://www.ibm.com/systems/x/fod/,login,andclickHelp.
Toremovethesystemboard,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagev,“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”
onpage33,and“Installationguidelines”onpage31.
Step2.Turnofftheserverandanyattacheddevices.
Step3.Turnofftheperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercords.
Note:Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatest
firmwareorrestorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCD
image.Makesurethatyouhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebefore
youproceed.
Step4.Pullthepowersuppliesoutoftherearoftheserver,justenoughtodisengagethemfromtheserver.
Step5.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage189).
Step6.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage191).
