UpdatingtheDMI/SMBIOSdata
TheDesktopManagementInterface(DMI)mustbeupdatedwhenthesystemboardisreplaced.Usethe
AdvancedSettingsUtilitytoupdatetheDMIintheUEFI-basedserver.
TheASUisanonlinetoolthatsupportsseveraloperatingsystems.Makesurethatyoudownloadthe
versionforyouroperatingsystem.YoucandownloadtheASUfromthewebsite.TodownloadtheASU
andupdatetheDMI,completethefollowingsteps.
Note:Changesaremadeperiodicallytothewebsite.Theactualproceduremightvaryslightlyfromwhatis
describedinthisdocument.
Step1.DownloadtheAdvancedSettingsUtility(ASU)at
http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=LNVO-ASU.
Step2.ASUsetstheDMIintheIntegratedManagementModule(IMM).Selectoneofthefollowing
methodstoaccesstheIntegratedManagementModule(IMM)tosettheDMI:
•Onlinefromthetargetsystem(LANorkeyboardconsolestyle(KCS)access)
•Remoteaccesstothetargetsystem(LANbased)
•BootablemediacontainingASU(LANorKCS,dependinguponthebootablemedia)
Step3.CopyandunpacktheASUpackage,whichalsoincludesotherrequiredfiles,totheserver.Make
surethatyouunpacktheASUandtherequiredfilestothesamedirectory.Inadditiontothe
applicationexecutable(asuorasu64),thefollowingfilesarerequired:
•ForWindowsbasedoperatingsystems:
–ibm_rndis_server_os.inf
–device.cat
•ForLinuxbasedoperatingsystems:
–cdc_interface.sh
Step4.AfteryouinstallASU,typethefollowingcommandstosettheDMI:
asusetSYSTEM_PROD_DATA.SysInfoProdName<m/t_model>[access_method]
asusetSYSTEM_PROD_DATA.SysInfoSerialNum<s/n>[access_method]
asusetSYSTEM_PROD_DATA.SysEncloseAssetTag<asset_tag>[access_method]
