•Thereisnomemorymismatchwhentheserverisattheminimummemory
configuration.
2.ReseattheDIMMs,andthenrestarttheserver.
3.CheckthePOSTerrorlog:
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbyasystems-managementinterrupt(SMI),replace
theDIMM.
•IfaDIMMwasdisabledbytheuserorbyPOST,reseattheDIMM;then,run
theSetuputilityandenabletheDIMM.
4.CheckthatallDIMMsareinitializedintheSetuputility;then,runmemory
diagnostics(see“RunningtheDSAPrebootdiagnosticprograms”onpage137).
5.ReversetheDIMMsbetweenthechannels(ofthesamemicroprocessor),and
thenrestarttheserver.IftheproblemisrelatedtoaDIMM,replacethefailing
DIMM.
6.Re-enableallDIMMsusingtheSetuputility,andthenrestarttheserver.
7.(Trainedtechnicianonly)InstallthefailingDIMMintoaDIMMconnector
formicroprocessor2(ifinstalled)toverifythattheproblemisnotthe
microprocessorortheDIMMconnector.
8.(Trainedtechnicianonly)Replacethesystemboard.

Note:EachtimeyouinstallorremoveaDIMM,youmustdisconnecttheserverfrom
thepowersource;then,wait10secondsbeforerestartingtheserver.
1.ReseattheDIMMs;then,restarttheserver.
2.Removethehighest-numberedDIMMofthosethatareidentifiedandreplace
itwithanidenticalknowngoodDIMM;then,restarttheserver.Repeatas
necessary.IfthefailurescontinueafterallidentifiedDIMMsarereplaced,go
tostep4.
3.ReturntheremovedDIMMs,oneatatime,totheiroriginalconnectors,restarting
theserveraftereachDIMM,untilaDIMMfails.ReplaceeachfailingDIMM
withanidenticalknowngoodDIMM,restartingtheserveraftereachDIMM
replacement.Repeatstep3untilyouhavetestedallremovedDIMMs.
4.Replacethehighest-numberedDIMMofthoseidentified;then,restartthe
server.Repeatasnecessary.
5.ReversetheDIMMsbetweenthechannels(ofthesamemicroprocessor),and
thenrestarttheserver.IftheproblemisrelatedtoaDIMM,replacethefailing
DIMM.
6.(Trainedtechnicianonly)InstallthefailingDIMMintoaDIMMconnector
formicroprocessor2(ifinstalled)toverifythattheproblemisnotthe
microprocessorortheDIMMconnector.
