Step2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Step3.Removetheservercover(see“Removingthecover”onpage34).
Step4.Followthecablinginstructions,ifanycomewiththeadapter.Routetheadaptercablesbefore
youinstalltheadapter.
Step5.InserttheadapterintothePCIriser-cardassembly,aligningtheedgeconnectorontheadapterwith
theconnectoronthePCIriser-cardassembly.PresstheedgeoftheconnectorfirmlyintothePCI
riser-cardassembly.MakesurethattheadaptersnapsintothePCIriser-cardassemblysecurely.

Attention:Whenyouinstallanadapter,makesurethattheadapteriscorrectlyseatedinthe
riser-cardassemblyandthattheriser-cardassemblyissecurelyseatedintheriser-cardconnector
onthesystemboardbeforeyouturnontheserver.Anincorrectlyseatedadaptermightcause
damagetothesystemboard,theriser-cardassembly,ortheadapter.
Step6.InstallthePCIriser-cardassemblyintheserver(see“ReplacingaPCIriser-cardassembly”on
page221).
Step7.Connectthecabletothenewly-installedadapter.
