Usingdualdisplays
ThissectionintroducestheExtenddesktopfunctionwhichenablesyoutodisplayoutput(thesameor
different)onboththecomputerdisplayandanexternalmonitor.
UsingtheExtenddesktopfunction
YourcomputersupportsafunctionnamedtheExtenddesktop.Withit,youcandisplayoutputonboththe
computerdisplayandanexternalmonitor.Youcanalsodisplaydifferentdesktopimagesoneachmonitor.
YoucanusetheExtenddesktopfunctionwithoutchanginganysettings.Ifthefunctiondoesnotwork,refer
to“EnablingtheExtenddesktopfunction”onpage54toenableit.
ConsiderationsforusingtheExtenddesktopfunction
•IfyouwanttoshowDOSfull-screenwhileintheExtenddesktopmode,onlytheprimarydisplayshows
DOS;theotherdisplayisblackedout.
IfyourcomputerhastheInteldisplayadapter,youcandesignatetheotherdisplayastheprimarydisplay.
Dothefollowing:
1.PressCtrl+Alt+F12.TheIntelCUIwindowopens.
2.SelectExtendedDesktop.
3.Changethesettingtodesignatetheprimarydisplay.
•WhenanapplicationusingtheDirectDrawortheDirect3Displayedinfull-screenmode,itisshown
onlyontheprimarydisplay.
•YoucannotusethedisplayswitchingfunctionwhenyouareintheExtenddesktopmode.
EnablingtheExtenddesktopfunction
ToenabletheExtenddesktopfunction,doasfollows:
ForWindows7:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,thenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.PressFn+F7,thenselectExtend.
Tochangetheresolutionforeachmonitor,doasfollows:
1.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
2.ClicktheMonitor-1icon(fortheprimarydisplay,thecomputerdisplay).
3.SelecttheResolutionoftheprimarydisplay.
4.ClicktheMonitor-2icon(forthesecondarydisplay,theexternaldisplay).
5.SelecttheResolutionofthesecondarydisplay.
6.Placetheiconsforthemonitorssothattheytouch.
Note:Youcansetthemonitorsinanyrelativeposition,buttheiconsmusttoucheachother.
7.ClickOKtoapplythechanges.
