Settingasupervisorpassword
Onlyasystemadministratorwillbeabletoapplythisprocedure.
1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenles,andexitallapplications.
3.Turnyourcomputeroffandthenturnitonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1.TheBIOSSetupUtilitywindowopens.
5.SelectSecurity,usingthecursordirectionalkeystomovedownthemenu.
6.SelectPassword.
7.SelectSupervisorPassword.
8.Awindowopensthatpromptsyoutoenteranewpassword.
9.ChooseyoursupervisorpasswordandtypeitintheEnterNewPasswordeld,thenpressEnter.
Note:IfthePassphrasefunctionisenabled,youcanchooseyoursupervisorpassword,whichcan
consistof1to64charactersinanycombination.IfthePassphrasefunctionisdisabled,thesupervisor
passwordcanbefromonetosevenalphanumericcharactersinanycombination.Fordetails,refer
to“UsingPassphrase”onpage68
.
10.PressEntertomovetothenextline.Retypethepasswordyoujustenteredtoverifyit.
11.Commityourpasswordtomemory.
Attention:Youmightwanttonoteyourpasswordandkeepitinasafeplace.Ifyouforgetyour
supervisorpassword,Lenovocannotresetyourpassword.YoumusttakeyourcomputertoaLenovo
reselleroraLenovomarketingrepresentativetohavethesystemboardreplaced.Proofofpurchaseis
required,andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
12.PressF10toexit.IntheSetupConrmationwindow,clickYes.
ThenexttimeyouopentheBIOSSetupUtilityprogram,youwillbepromptedtotypeyourpassword
toproceed.
Changingorremovingthesupervisorpassword
Tochangeorremovethesupervisorpassword,followsteps1through7aboveinSettingasupervisor
password.
Note:WhenyoupressF1toentertheBIOSSetupUtility,thesystemwillrequirethesupervisorpassword.
