3 Attach the calibration device to the machine ensuring that no load is applied to the
loadcell or calibration device.
4 Zero the load reading on the calibration device.
5 Click on the START button then press the Zero key on the software console to zero the
machine load display.
6 Ensure that TENSION is shown in the DIRECTION drop down box.
7 The crosshead speed is selected using the function keys on the computer keyboard as
listed at the bottom of the screen. Note that the F10 key will stop the crosshead and hold
the load.
8 Select the required initial speed by pressing the relevant function key.
9 The machine will start moving in the UP direction and the load value is displayed on the
calibration screen.
Note that the RELATIVE LOAD is the "Zeroed" load and this is the load value that is
recorded during the calibration.
10 Move the crosshead to apply full load noting that the speed can be varied during the
calibration using the function keys shown earlier.
11 When full load is applied, press the F10 key on the computer keyboard to stop the
machine WITH THE LOAD HELD by the motor drive electronics.
12 Wait for approximately 30 seconds to allow the loadcell to stabilise.
13 Select COMPRESSION in the DIRECTION drop down box.
14 Select the required initial speed by pressing the relevant function key on the computer
keyboard
15 The machine will start moving in the DOWN direction.
16 Move the crosshead until the load falls back to zero noting that the speed can be varied
during the calibration using the keys shown earlier.
17 When zero load is applied, press the F10 key on the computer keyboard to stop the
machine.
It is important that the loadcell and verification equipment is exercised three times between
zero and maximum load in the mode to be verified, holding maximum load for 30 seconds
each time, before carrying out the load calibration.
