MLC165-1 OPERATOR MANUAL OPERATING CONTROLS AND PROCEDURES
3 Cigarette Lighter
Push in to turn on the lighter. The lighter will pop out when the coil
is hot.
This receptacle can be used to power 12 VDC devices. Maximum
current draw is 10A.
4 SCR Regeneration Switch
This 3-position switch is provided only on cranes with a Tier 4 Final
engine.
SCR = Selective Catalytic Reduction
A guard over the front end of the rocker prevents accidental manual
regeneration.
Center Position
Press the CENTER of the switch (maintained) to allow AUTOMATIC
REGENERATION of the exhaust system. This position does not require
operator assistance under normal engine operating conditions.
TOP Position
Press and release the TOP of the switch (momentary) to start MANUAL
REGENERATION when needed. Manual regeneration is required if the SCR
regeneration light comes on in the Engine Information Screen of the main
display.
The engine ECM will control the regeneration cycle. The switch will return to the
center position when the rocker is released.
Manual regeneration will begin only if the following conditions are met:
• The engine is at low idle
• The accelerator pedal is not pressed
The High Exhaust System Temperature (HEST) fault in the main display may
come on during regeneration and remain on for a short time after regeneration.
Regeneration Inhibit
Press the BOTTOM of the switch (maintained) to INHIBIT (prevent) exhaust
system automatic regeneration. The SCR regeneration inhibited light comes on
in the Engine Information Screen of the main display.
To re-enable automatic regeneration, manually return the rocker to the center
position.
Do not use the inhibit switch unless specifically instructed to do so by a
Manitowoc or Cummins technical advisor.
For information on exhaust system-related faults, see Tier 4 Engine Faults on
page 3-33.
Also see the engine manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manual for
information on the after-treatment system and engine faults.
